There are 54 entries in the Five Year old class which begins at 09:00, 66 in the Six Year old class at 12:00 and 56 in the Seven Year old class that begins at 15:30.
The German riders, Helmut Schönstetter with Vancouver Dreams and Torben Köhlbrandt with Gepsom Gold are the winners of today’s Seven Year old class.
Tomorrow is the highlight of the Young Horse classes with the Finals of this year’s XXIII Sunshine Tour. Across 13 qualifying classes and from more than 500 young horses of 5, 6 and 7yrs, there are now 176 horses qualified with seven clear rounds each. In 5yr olds there are 54 horses and the Final is in Milton Arena 5 at 09:00. In the 6yr olds there are 66 horses and the Final is on grass in the Hickstread Arena starting at noon and in the 7yr olds there are 56 horses that will jump in the David Broome Arena from 15:30.
In today’s results there was a double German victory in the 7yr old class, with Helmut Schönstetter on Vancouver Dreams (Valentino x Stakkita), winning Section A and Torben Köhlbrandt on Geptsom Gold (Gepsom x Clara), winning Section B.
The British rider Georgina Crumley on Cotoki was second in Section A and in third was the Spanish rider Paola Amilibia on Floriona. The Belgium rider Virginie Thonon on Kamara du Chabus was fourth, with the Czech rider Emma Augier de Moussac on Brighton Bay in fifth.
In Section B second place was taken by Latvian rider Santa Steinberga on Calola, in third was the Belgian rider Stephanie Andries on Kira Van’t Laerhof and in fourth was the French rider Robert Breul on Astone de Beaufoury. In fifth place was Michael Viehweg on Ben Hardy.
British rider, Lance Whitehouse, was the winner of Section A of the 6yr old class riding Whitesparke Pepper (Peppermill x Miss Mayo). Another British rider, Pippa Goddard on Toki II was second. In third was the Belgian rider Inge Carton on Los Blue and in fourth another British rider, Joe Whitaker on Black Pearl Leone. Once again in the rosettes was Michael Viehweg this time on Comanche 29.
It was a Belgian victory in Section B. Karel Cox on Nistria V/D Winning Z (Nonstop x Kora VI) beat the British riders Rosie Gunn on Jagerbomb and Spencer Roe on Gusto into second and third places. The Greek rider Ioli Mytilineou on Glen Moray and the Moroccan rider El Ghali Boukaa on Gummi Fee took fourth and fifth respectively.
The 5yr old class was won by Alice Palmer from the UK on Murphy Hof Ter Zeedycke (Cassanova x Cooloe Hof Ter). In second was the Portuguese rider Marina Frutuoso on Hacienda and in third was the Belgian rider Gaëtan Decroix on Gipsy King by Wisbecq. Fourth and fifth were taken by the two British riders Jessica Dimmock on Vamoose and Simon Crippen on Budgie.
