The 2026 edition concludes with strong figures that reflect the scale of the Tour. Across nine weeks of international show jumping and one week of dressage, Montenmedio hosted one of the largest volumes of equestrian activity in Europe.
A total of 1,200 riders from 60 countries and 3,800 horses took part, setting a new participation record. Spain led participation with 30%, followed by Great Britain (12%), Belgium (8%) and Portugal, Ireland and France (6%).
More than €2.5 million in prize money was distributed, while the event welcomed 60,000 visitors.
The Tour was supported by key sponsors including Diputación de Cádiz, Junta de Andalucía, Longines, Range Rover (C. de Salamanca), KAR Sport Horses, Stephex, Fuze Tea / Royal Bliss, ClipMyHorse.TV and YETI.
The Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2026 concludes its 32nd edition after more than two months of competition in Montenmedio:
The Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2026 has brought its 32nd edition to a close after more than two months of competition at the Dehesa Montenmedio facilities in Vejer de la Frontera, further consolidating its position as one of the most important equestrian circuits on the international calendar worldwide.
The Winter Tour began in January with the two competitions of the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, held over two consecutive weeks (January 15–18 and January 22–25), which served as a sporting prelude to the main circuit.
From there, the Tour ran between January 26 and March 22, featuring a programme that included a total of 9 CSIYH, 2 CSI2*, 1 CSI3*, 6 CSI4* and 1 CSIOYJCh, forming a broad and progressive sporting structure that combined top-level competition with amateur and development classes.
An international benchmark:
Over seven weeks of competition, the Circuito Hípico del Sol brought together riders from numerous countries, with the presence of international elite athletes alongside strong Spanish participation.
The sporting level remained consistently high throughout the Winter Tour, with demanding courses and Grand Prix classes that made the difference, particularly during the CSI4* weeks, where the highest level of technical difficulty was concentrated.
Young horses and development pathway:
The young horse programme (CSIYH) once again stood as one of the pillars of the circuit, with nine competitions dedicated to 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-year-old horses.
The finals of the different cycles allowed the identification of some of the most promising horses on the international scene, confirming the Andalucía Sunshine Tour’s role as a development platform towards top-level sport.
At the same time, youth competitions —Children, Juniors and Young Riders— reinforced the educational dimension of the circuit, fully integrated within a complete sporting structure.
Montenmedio, a consolidated venue also for Dressage:
The Dehesa Montenmedio facilities once again hosted a high volume of competition under optimal conditions, consolidating its position as one of the leading equestrian venues in Europe and worldwide during the winter season.
In the final phase of the circuit, international dressage competitions were also incorporated, expanding the sporting scope of the venue.
Dressage also had a prominent role in the final stretch of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2026, with both national and international competitions reinforcing Montenmedio’s multidisciplinary character. The programme included a CDN of the RFHE National Dressage League and CDI competitions, highlighted by a CDI3*, creating a technically strong competition block. The classes were held with solid participation and relevant results, consolidating dressage within the Winter Tour and expanding the circuit’s sporting projection beyond show jumping.
Balance of the 2026 edition:
The 2026 edition of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour concludes with a balance defined by continuity, international participation and sporting level, within a structure that combines high performance with development.
The Tour once again reaffirms its role as one of the major fixtures on the European equestrian calendar during the winter months. In this way, the Dehesa Montenmedio bids farewell to international show jumping competition until next October, when a new edition of the 2026 Autumn Tour will begin.
The event receives institutional support from the Junta de Andalucía — through the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior — and the Provincial Council of Cádiz.
