Tomorrow is an important day with the Finals for the Young Horses taking place here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2022.  This is our second Young Horse Finals of the Tour and there are many new names topping the podium that are hot favourites to win their sections.  Over the three age groups, 5, 6 and 7YOs, there will be 215 youngsters competing with the jumping starting up at 09:00. Qualification for the Finals means that each horse must have jumped at least four clear rounds over these last three weeks of classes here at the Tour.  The 7YO class will be held at 09:00 in arena 5 Milton, and there are 57 finalists.  From 15:30 this arena will also host the 5YO Finals where there are 60 competitors.  In arena 8, Baloubet de Rouet, the 6YO Final will be held, the class will start at 11:30 and has the largest number of qualified horses with 98 in all taking to the ring.  Today was the last day that these horses could add a clear round score to their qualifier sum and many horses did exactly that.

Top three in the first of the 7YO classes were Dutch rider Leon Hegg with ‘Kasoria’;  Chris Burton with ‘Kennedy HX’ for Australia and Emily Sage ‘Cadiz Z’ (GBR).  ‘Burto continues to shine and flew round to win the second class with ‘Chedington Blue’ as he did last week;  in second was Mariano Martínez (ESP) with ‘Falbala Pironniere’ and in third was the German rider Marc Bettinger with ‘Fevrier de Hus’.  There were 119 horses jumping with 51 going clear.

135 horses jumped in the two 6YO classes in the 8 Baloubet de Rouet arena, and 63 were clear.   Two Irish riders took the top spots; In the first class it was Dermott Lennon with ‘Play Ball’ with ‘Burto’ right behind him, taking second with ‘Carly 14’.  In third was  the Swiss rider Arthur Da Silva with ‘AGS Casallida’.  In the second class it was Eoin Gallagher with ‘Sure D’Elle Z’; second was Abbe Burchmore-Eames (GBR) with ‘Hamberlins Peridot’ and in third was Felipe Lopes Morgan (BRA) with ‘Corlara Blue PS’.

There was a Portuguese win in the first 5YO class from Anthony Lupi Hart who was riding ‘Maladiva SB’,  two Belgian riders took the next placings Louise Joassin with ‘Lovely LJ’ and Inge Carton with ‘Saartje Van Het Cauterhof’.  In the second class Spanish rider Carlos Bosch was first with ‘Mega Coupe’;  Dominique Joassin (BEL) with ‘LJ Corssini’ was second and in third was another Spanish rider, Alejandro Fernández with ‘Dogran Wiro Z’.  88 horses jumped and 39 went clear.

These results kick off our seventh and final week here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Regeneración, Justicia y Administración Local de la Junta de Andalucía, a través de Turismo y Deporte de Andalucía.
