Antonio Matos Almeida and ‘Clair Matin PS’ have a commanding win for Portugal in the Small GP

Jorge Bidón Daurella has a great day and wins both the Big 1.45 class and the 1.35 for Spain

Antonio Matos Almeida and his 8yr old mare, ‘Clair Matin PS’ were last to go in the six horse jump off of the 1.40 Small Grand Prix class today, and they set the Milton arena alight.  Going in and aiming to beat the Brazilian rider Felipe Guinato, who had just taken the lead with ‘Garota’; they rode a tight, neat round, knocking just under 2 seconds off of Felipe’s time and stopped the clock in 32.44s, finally taking a commanding win for Portugal, to add to their other great results so far, including second place on Thursday this week.

 

This meant that Brasil’s Felipe Guinato and ‘Garota de Ipanema MC’ took second place in 34.36s, with Swedish rider, Jacob Hellström and ‘Charles’ in third. German riders took fourth and fifth, Kendra Claricia Brinkop with ‘Chinook Pommex Z’ and Jens Baackmann with ‘Zealand 3’.

 

The Spanish rider, Jorge Bidón Daurella had a great day at the office, winning two classes. The first one was the Big 1.45 class in arena eight this morning with the 10yr old mare, ‘Cormira By P&S Z’, by ‘Cornet Obolensky’ x ‘Kashmir van Schuttershof’. They stopped the clock in just 72.03s and were almost 2s faster than Austrian, Christoph Obernauer with ‘Kleons Can Fly’ who took second place. America’s Katherine Brewer was third with ‘Casido 2’; Begian, Pieter Clemens fourth with ‘Jay Boobiday’ and Spain’s Alejandro Fernández Sánchez, fifth with ‘Too Action de Buzalen’.

 

Jorge Bidón Daurella’s winning ride in the 1.35 was with the 11yr old mare, ‘Duska’, who is by the legendary sire, ‘Diamant de Semilly’. ‘Duska’ is owned by Huero de los Arroyos SL. The pair stopped the clock, just over a second faster than their compatriot, Jaime Astolfi López, in second with ‘Land Ho Mister Mars’. Dutch, Rogier Linssen was third with ‘Lacona’; Liechtenstein’s Vanessa-Joy Nägele was fourth with ‘Louisiana K’ and Israel’s , Uri Burstein with ‘Chacca Keeps II’ was fifth.

 

Malta’s Victoria Sprogis with ‘CSF Foxy Lady’ were the winners of the 1.20.  Second was Swedish, Óscar Lauin with ‘Balou Blue’; third and fourth places were taken by Spanish  rider Lucas Hernández González, with ‘Carwyn HS Z’and then ‘Cincette PS’. In fifth was Finnish rider,  Saara Kojola with ‘Quartz Van de Heemstede’.

 

In the 1.10 of the CSI3* Czech rider, Dominika Knox was top of the podium with ‘Calgary Boy’. Swedish rider, Sara Forslin took second with ‘Cidfire EN’; Sophie Price from Britain was third, with ‘FC Twente’; in fourth was Columbian, Camila Rodríguez Mendoza with ‘Luz de Gozon’ and finally, Jaime Astolfi López and ‘Podges Dream’ were fifth.

 

Today Alfie Bradstock carried on with his excellent results in the Young Horse classes, winning both the 6yr olds and the 5yr olds. In the 6yr olds his ride was ‘Mostown Teensy’ but not did he win the class, this talented British ride also took second place with ‘Balou’s Boy Terma G Z’. In third was Finland’s Henna Simojoki with ‘Vivificantem’; fourth and fifth were the Spanish riders, Lara Ortiz Agüera with ‘Jemerald Manciais Coco’ and Armando Trapote with ‘Caviar’.

 

In the 5yr old class Alfie Bradstock was riding ‘Primer B’ when he took the top spot. This means that over the last two weeks he has clocked up three wins and one second place. 


Taking both second and fourth places in this class was the French rider, Mathilde Longy with ‘Daytona Gay Z’ followed by ‘Kosta Azzura D’Argent’. Belgian rider Cassandre Malherbe with ‘Bella Ciao MKM Z’ took third place and finally Alejandro Fernández was fifth with ‘Quiron del Amor’.

 

Tomorrow is the last day of the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Tourism and Foreign Affairs and the Provincial Council of Cadiz. The highlight of the day will be the second Grand Prix of 2025, a CSI3*, 1.50 meter, Longines Ranking class.
