Brazil take the top two places in the Small Grand Prix

Pedro Veniss with ‘Boeckmanns Lord Pezi Junior’ wins and second is Carlos Eduardo Mota Riba with ‘Trix’ topping the podium a 16 horse jump off!

Two riders representing Brazil took pride of place on the podium here at Montenmedio today. The Small GP was a Ranking class and held in  the geo-textile, 5 Milton arena.  With 16 riders in the jump off it was Pedro Veniss with his 14yr old faithful partner ‘Boeckmanns Lord Pezi Junior’ (‘Böckmann’s Lord Pezi’ x ‘Quattro 7’, who stopped the cock in just 31.35s. This is their third win here, as well as taking a well deserved third place in the big class on Thursday.

 

Carlos Eduardo Mota Ribas topped off the Brazilian domination on the podium with the nine year old black gelding, ’Trix’, (‘Asterix E Z’ x ‘Skippy II’) who is owned by Clare and John Whitaker, who recently arrived here at the Tour.

 

In third was the French rider, Edward Levy with the 12yr old stallion ‘Broadway de Mormoulin’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘For Pleasure’); fourth went to Germany from Sophie Hinners with ‘Hialita B’ (‘Emerald’ x ‘Vaillant’) and fifth was Spanish, Mariano Martínez Bastida riding ‘Elixir de Hus’.

 

The Big Tour 1.45 was also held in the Milton arena and was won by Spanish, Kevin González de Zárate with ‘Kilimanjaro van Overis Z’, stopping the clock in this 2PhSp, in  25.76s. Another top Spanish rider, José Fumero Hernández was second with ‘Figuier du Roc’ in just over 28s. Jose has had a great week here at the tour with two wins in 1.40 and clearly this lovely  horse is progressing comfortably into the bigger classes. 

Third was Portuguese Duarte Seabra., another rider with numerous placings this week,. Today he was riding  ‘Fernhill Balou Beau’ who was first yesterday.

 

In the Big Tour 1.35 Belgian rider, Cyril Cools was our winner with ‘Seahorse Z’; second was British,  James Smith with ‘Good Friends’ and third the Dutch Kevin Jochems with ‘Looks Good de Lievri Z’.

 

In the Medium Tour, Irish phenomenon, Richard Howley won with his mare ‘Farianne’ in the 1.40 class in the Hickstead arena. Portuguese, Antonio Matos Almeida with ‘Chippo Z’ and Duarte Seabra, this time with ‘L-Piccola’ completed the podium.

 

Czech rider, Anna Marie Vitek with ‘Here I Am’ won the 1.30; second was Portuguese,  Mario Prieto with ‘Lady Ulydi’ and third, Marco Litterscheidt with ‘Coulorful’.

 

Other winners today, were Spanish, Leticia Riva Gil con ‘Conan de Taute’ in the Small Tour 1.35; British, Alexandra Somerville-Cotton with ‘Jirado van’t Koningshof’ in the 1.30; Spanish, Marta Garat Macias with ‘Rapid Boy II’ in the 1.25 in the CSI1*; Spanish Antonia Etzel with ‘Quinoa Buzalen’ in the CSI1* 1.10 and Irish Michael Pender with ‘HHS Cornetta’ in the 1.45, 8yr old class, what a great week the HHS stud has had!

This is the penultimate day of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023, which would not be possible without the generous sponsorship from ‘la Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and being co-financed by the European Union.

 

Tomorrow is ‘Invitational’ day and we celebrate five of these classes, three are Ranking classes, one is the Ladies Invitational and one the CSI1* Invitational. 

 

The first will be the 1.45, Ladies Invitational, sponsored by Equipe, at 09:00 in Milton arena. At 10:00 the Small Tour Invitational will be held, also 1.45 in the main arena, David Broome.  At 10.30, in the Hickstead arena the Medium Tour Invitational at 1.50 will start up and at 13:00 the CSI1* Invitational will begin, also in the Milton arena. At 14.30 is the Andalucía GP Final, the best riders from the whole of the tour this year, will jump a course set by the international designer Louis Konickx set at 1.60. Without a doubt a great day of sport to finish off the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023.
