Today was the Young Horse Finals for the 5, 6 and 7yr olds here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and by the Diputación provincial de Cádiz; and there was a Spanish ‘full house’ on top of the podiums.
‘Fahidi D Elsendam Z’, who is by ‘Fantomas de Muze’ x ‘By Ceira d’Ick’ and owned by Stal Thibault Vermeulen – JVM Stables was the winner of the 7yr old Fianl, after an exciting jump off between the seven horses that went thorough. This bay mare was steered to victory by our very own home rider, Armando Trapote and they stopped the clock in an unbeatable 37.57s in this competitive 1.40 class held in the Milton arena. Armando is also the owner of the horse that was placed third in this class, ‘Cadarco C’, (‘Casall' x ‘Darco’) with another Spanish rider Kevin González de Zárate. In second place was ‘Nice Girl Dito’ (‘Arezzo VDL’ x ‘Carthino Z’) with Odile Gierech, from Luxemburgo in 38.29s and who also came seventh with her second horse that got through to the jump off, ‘Speciale Couleur de Septon’.
‘Comme Chez Soi V Ijzervallei Z’ (‘Comme Il Faut’ x ‘Chellano’) was fourth with Belgian rider, Chloe Stampaert and ‘Augustus Z’ (‘Zang’ x ‘Aganix du Seigneur’) with Irish rider, Eoin Brennan was fifth.
The winner of the 6yr old Final was the black mare, ’Esmeralda Z’ by ‘Emerald van’T Ruytershof’ x ‘Casper van Erpekom Z’ and who is owned by Lander Zabala, and ridden by Rocío Lázaro Alonso for Spain. They topped the podium in a 22 horse jump off, in a time of 36.59s. The British took second and third places with ‘Cavalier HF’ and Emily Ward followed by ‘Mon Beau Fire’ and Will Edwards; fourth was ’Jet Set Riverland’ with French rider Emeric George and fifth was ‘Valenza de Capellán’ with Spanish rider, Santiago Núñez Riva.
The 5yr old Final was also a success for Spain with ‘Kandeme Des Desig’, by ‘Dakar’ x ‘Norman Pre Noir’ and owned by Saptools S.L, taking the top spot with Jaime Gabarrón Jiménez. ‘Arya’ and the British rider, Ben Walker took second whilst ‘Bellator’ and another British rider, Olivia Gent, were third. Fourth was ‘Take on Me 3’ with Swedish rider, Lina Renstrom and fifth was ‘Rockefeller’ with the Irish rider, Emily Turkington.
The 8yr olds also jumped today in preparation for their Final on Friday. The winner was ‘Rio vd Withoeve’ with the German rider Anna Maria Kuhlmann; second was ‘Herblock du Ru’ with Emeric George and in third was ‘Hautbrion du Chateau’, with another French rider Marie Demonte.
