Felipe Guinato and ‘Garota de Ipanema MC’ a Brazilian win in the big class!

Spanish, Carolina Aresu with ‘Funny Star du Park’ and Irish Coen Williams with ‘Phiilly Fogarty’ take the other podium paces in the1.45 class today at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour

Felipe Guinato (BRA) flew around the second phase in the 1.45 big class today steering ‘Garota de Ipanema MC’, to a speedy victory.  This 10yr old mare is by ‘Nartago’ x ‘Skippy II’ and stopped the clock in an amazing 27.02s in the second phase of this class held in the Milton arena.

 

In second place was Spanish rider, Carolina Aresu with her own ‘Funny Star du Park’ (‘L’Arc de Triomphe*Bois Margot’ x ‘Kannan’) in 27.39s. Third was Irish rider, Coen William with ‘Philly Fogarty’ (‘Aganix du Seigneur’ x ‘Harlequin du Carel’) in 27.81s; Fourth was German, Jens Baackmann with ‘ABC Saving Grace’ and fifth, Portuguese, Antonio Matos Almeida with ‘Clair Martin PS’. 

 

Jens Baackmann was also the winner of the 1.40 class with ‘Cinderella’ (‘Casalco’ x ‘Heartbreaker’.  In the jump off they had a flawless round in just 41.43s beating off four other participants with British Chloe Winchester coming in to second place clear but over two seconds slower in 43.76s, with ‘Baskin Smooth Diamond’. On four faults in third was Austrian rider, Christoph Obernauer with ‘Kleons Can Fly’. The next two riders took equal fourth, Swedish, Filippa Fant with ‘Lordana DC’ and Dutch, Liv Linssen with ‘Lacona’. 

 

Germany’s, Kendra Claricia Brinkop was once again on the podium today, this time taking the win in the 1.35 with ‘Chinook Pommex Z’. Second was Felipe Guinato with ‘Chiron RC’; Belgian rider, Pieter Clemens was third with ‘Jay Bloobiday’; Finnish rider, Nea Tolonen fourth, with ‘Jikaribanta’ and another Belgian rider took fifth, Stephanie Andries with ‘Dilithya de Spalbec Z’.

 

Spain took the win in the 1.20 with Mario Peña Sánchez and ‘Roxette HT’. British, James Whitaker continued his good results this week taking second with ‘Churchill IV’; Spanish, Marta Garat Macías was third with ‘Nasa del Amor’; Swiss rider, Steffi Theiler was fourth with ‘Verona Z’ and Austrian, Lisa-Marie Arvai finished the podium with ‘Chakilly Z’.

 

In the 1.10, the winner was Swiss, Ruedi Müller with ‘Cassidy L CH’ followed by James Whitaker and ‘Calgary Boy’; third was Spanish rider, Jaime Astolfi López with ‘Podges Dream’; fourth and fifth, British, Ryan Lockwood with ‘If in Doubt’ and Sophie Price with ‘FC Twente’.

 

The Young Horse class results were: 6yr olds,  ‘Balou's Boy Terma G Z’ (Baloudu Rouet’ x ‘Guidam’) ridden by Alfie Bradstock followed by ‘Quick Diamond’ and Pedro Mateos Bernáldez and in third, ‘Jupiter du Terral’ with French rider, Mathilde Longy.

 

In the 5yr olds ‘Bella Ciao MKM Z’ from Belgian rider, Cassandre Malherbe was our winner with ‘Primera B’ and Alfie Bradstock in second and ‘Kali D'Esteillou’ and Mathilde Longy in third.

 

Tomorrow is the last day of jumping this week with the celebration of the first Longines Ranking Grand Prix of 2025, this is a jump off class with the best riders and horses from this first week here at the Andalucía Pre-Sunshine Tour, which is sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior de la Junta de Andalucía and also the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz.
