Italian rider, Emiliano Liberati took the top spot in the Longines Ranking, Range Rover C. de Salamanca Grand Prix today, here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and by the Diputación provincial de Cádiz. Emiliano was riding his 10yr old mare, ‘Aruba Island’ (Vigo D’Arsouilles STX’ x ‘Carthago’), and held the lead in this competitive ten horse jump off with a time of 43.14s from early on in the class.
He told us: ”I am very happy and satisfied with how the mare jumped. ‘Aruba Island’ is a mare that I have developed since she was 4 years old. Today she really jumped well, performing a very fast jump-off, and I have to say I am very satisfied. The next goal will definitely be the Italian Championships. Then we'll see, depending on how she goes, if we manage to jump at the CSIO Piazza di Siena in Rome this year."
Irish rider, Seamus Hughes Kennedy was a late challenger to the winner with ‘ESI Rocky’ (‘Stakkato Gold’ x ‘For Pleasure’); last to go in the class he had a great round and finished up taking second place with a time of 43.68s.
Spanish rider Carlos Bosch Cebrián with ‘Jolie van der Berghoeve’ (‘Jaguar VD Berghoeve’ x ‘Kannan’) was third; the Belgian rider, Lieven Devos was fourth with ‘Inca’s Big Think’ (‘Think Big Van T L’ x ‘Lanciano’) and in fifth was Brazilian Pedro Veniss with ‘Duelante 3K’.
There was an Irish win in the Medium Tour Grand Prix from Billy Twomey with ‘Ace of Hearts Z’ (‘Action-Breaker’ x ‘Labor’s VDL Indorado’). In second was the successful Dutch rider, Finn Boerekamp with ‘Epic’; Brazilian, Joao Victor Castro was third with ‘Kenzo Quality Z’; in fourth was British, Adrian Whiteway with ‘BP Baxter’ and in fifth was Anastasia Nielsen from Monaco with ‘Beau van de Hagenhorst Z’.
The Small GP was also a Ranking class and it was won by the British rider, Ava Vernon with ‘Volnay de Choc Z’ (‘Vivaldi du Seigneur’ x ‘Galopin du Boele’); in second was Irish rider, Adam Morgan with ‘Joplin’; third was Spanish, Carlos Borho Giron with ‘Brugnon Villeclare’; fourth was Brazilian rider, Felipe Amaral with ‘Qerbi Vant Ruytershof’ and in fifth was another Spanish rider, José Bono Rodríguez with ‘Ali Baba HT’.
In the Classic Tour GP the winner was Spanish rider, Haizea Garmendia Ajuria with ‘Alios de Fleyres’ (by ‘Quite Easy’), who was three seconds clear of Olivia Banks who not only took second place with ‘Geodina HS’, but also third, with ‘Lahelien W’.
In the CSIOY Grand Prix, the winner was the Spanish rider, Elena Appendino, with ‘Pompei Van de Fruitkorf’; Belgian rider, Leon Brutsaert was second with ‘Qoeketine van T&L’ and in third was Pablo Santiago Artime with ‘Chiquita D’Aiguilly’.
In the CSIOJ GP, the winner was British rider, Izabella Rogers with ‘Rising Star VR’ in a very fast time of 31.13s. In second was Spanish rider, Micaela Álvarez Gutiérrez with ‘Houlahop de Septon’ in 32.68s, whilst another Spanish rider took third, Izora Junquera López with ‘Danah’ with four faults in 28.90s.
In the CSIOCh GP, there was a Spanish winner, Carmen Barigana Mas with ‘Cancale; in second was Dutch rider, Mienie Vos with ‘Don Diablo’ and third was Spanish rider, Lucas Morote Soria with ‘Elite du Fer Chigne’.
Dutch rider, Sanne Thijssen and ‘Os Le Petit Cheval’ were the winners of the Big Tour 1.45 class today and British rider Will Edwards with ‘SHW Candies B’, won the Big Tour 1.35 class.
In the Medium Tour classes , Sanne Thijssen was once again top of the podium, this time riding ‘QH Babalou Santo Antonio’ in the 1.40 class; British rider, Emily Ward and ‘Millfield Lottery’ were the winners of the 1.30 and the Hungarian rider, Laszlo Toth with ‘Conmir T’ won the 1.20 class.
The Small Tour results: Portuguese rider, Carolina Amorim Baptisa and ‘Jesilette’ were the winners of the 1.40, whilst British rider Laura Kennedy was the winner of the 1.30 with ‘Leestone Singulady’.
The Classic Tour results: British, Olivia Mae Davinson with ‘Fabuleu Vd Watertoren’ won the 1.25 class and Spanish rider, Carlota Uson Jaume with ‘Utopie Les Hauts’ were the winners in the 1.15.
In the CSIOY, Elena Appendino was also the winner of this 1.40 class, this time she was riding ‘Grupo Prom Hacienda’; in the CSIOJ the winner was Dutch rider Liv Linssen with ‘Lyn’ and in the CSIOCh the winner was Constança Pires from Portugal with ‘Simba de Olid’.
These results close off the very busy sixth week, classes begin again on Tuesday for the last week here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour.
