Javier Guillén Callejas and ‘Resuelto AS’ win the first Young Rider class

Maite Cavaliere Di Penta and ‘Future Project’ took the top spot in Junior 0* and Paola Jiménez Díaz with ‘Gitana’ were the winners of the Children section

The 2025 Spanish Junior Dressage Championship kicked off today at the Montenmedio equestrian facilities with the first team qualifying events for Young Riders, Juveniles, and Children.

 

In the first San Jorge qualifying event for the Young Riders, Aragonese rider, Javier Guillén Callejas came top of the leader board score of 71.912 points on the 13-year-old stallion 'Resuelto AS', son of 'Barquero XXVI' and owned by Gonzalo Guillén Pueyo. In second, with 69.618 points, was Catalan rider, María Badell Sánchez with 'Lets Go Crazy' ('Galaxie Win'); followed by Basque rider, Nile Urrutia López with 'Viriathus Van GC' (‘Vivaldi'), and then the Andalucían rider, María Araceli Martín Rivera with 'Ladiva' ('Dante Weltino') and Madrid rider,  Eva Gonzalo García with 'Just Happy' ('Jazz').

 

Basque rider, Maite Cavaliere Di Penta was the clear winner in the first Junior 0* Young Rider qualifier with 'Future Project', an eight-year-old chestnut, by 'Flanell'. This pair achieved a lead of more than three points over the runner-up, delivering a brilliant performance of 71.935.

 

Second place went to Andalucían, Curro Ramírez Morales with the 16-year-old mare 'Mon Amie' and 68.613 points. Third went to Basque, Maialen Lazkano Ugarte with 'Cizur de Bariain' ('Rasines') with 67.581 points; fourth was Andalucían, Flavia Molina Domecq with the nine-year-old CDE 'Ambar de Tirri' and 66.645 points, and fifth place went to Alejandro Navarro Sánchez from Murcia, with 'Inquieta FSR' ('Malagueño LXXXIII') with 66.613.

 

Madrid's team won the under-12s category, led by Paloma Jiménez Díaz and 'Gitana', a 14-year-old mare owned by Aitor Arango Barbosa. Together they achieved a total of 72.097 points.

 

 

Aragonese rider Jorge Samper Lostao and 'Sevillano Aran' came next in the standings with 71.742 points, and Valencian rider,  Mariia Iznairova took third place with 'Orus' and a score of 69. Completing the podium were Basque, Ane Quintanilla Arnaiz with 'Cosmo' and Andalucían Julia Gavilán Sánchez with 'Lucero'.

 

The competition will continue tomorrow with an intense day, featuring the first Junior and Team Qualifier, the second Individual Young Rider Qualifier, and the Children Team Qualifier. The first event will also end tomorrow and tomorrow will be the second phase of the Junior Team Qualifier.
