José Fumero wins the first CSI3* International at the II Andalucía October Tour

Kevin González de Zárate with ‘London Times PS’ wins the 1.40m; Luca Moneta with ‘Chilli 41’ the 1.35m and Silvia Diego Pardo with ‘Ragga Muffin’ the 1.30m

International competition started up today here at theII Andalucía October Tour, an event sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo and co-financed by the European Union.

José Fumero a very popular Spanishrider who is a regular here at Montenmedio was the well deserved winner of the CSO3* 1.45m speed class, here today on the lovely ‘Cadum de Champloue’. They were the only combination to stop the clock in under 60 seconds.  This 10 yr old mare is by the legendary stallion ‘Diamant de Semilly’ with dam sire‘Ludanum’and she is owned by Raso de los Morales. Jumping in the grass David Broome arena they stopped the clock in 59.16s and took the top spot in front of another fast rider, this time from the USA, Julie Welles who had a great clear round in 61.35s, with another mare ’Greatfull’ (‘Congress 4’ x ‘Peking’), owned by Cherry Knoll Farm. 

In third was Czech rider Sara Vingralkova with ‘Quisandro’ (‘Quintero’ x ‘Gaspari I’), in 66.58s. Olympian Laura Kraut (USA), a legend in the world of showjumping and who currently stands in position 48 in the Rankings, was fourth with ‘Dorado 212’ in 67.78s, in this very competitive class full of top international riders and horses and finally, the Spanish rider, Iván Serrano Sáez with ‘Little John’ completed the top 5 placings. 

 

Another Spanish success today came from Kevin González de Zárate in the 1.40m. He was riding ‘London Times PS’ (‘Nabab de Reve’ x ‘Conthargos’). Sara Vingralkova had another podium finish, this time with ‘Damocles From Second Life Z’ (‘Diamant de Semilly’), taking second place. Third, fourth and fifth were taken by Spanish riders.  Third and fourth were the brothers, Jorge and Borja, Bidón Daurella riding, respectively, ‘Duska’ (also by ‘Diamant de Semilly’) and ‘Coach Cornet Z’. In firth was Carolina Villanueva Suárez with ‘Índigo Blue Biolley’.

 

Italy took the top spot in the 1.35m with Luca Moneta, who hardly ever misses an event here at Montenmedio; he was riding ‘Chilli 41’ (‘Crunch 3’)owned by Rasmus Lüneburg, and flew around the demanding track in the grass Hickstead stopping the clock in 60.62s. Second and third places were taken by Spanish riders, Patricia Segura, and ‘Valseuse de Terlong’ and once again José Fumero was on the podium, in third this time riding, ‘Figuier du Roc’. Laura Kraut took fourth place with ‘Comius’, a gelding owned by Yeguada Valbanera.

 

The 2phase special 1.30m class was won by the Spanish rider,  Silvia Diego Pardo and ‘Ragga Muffin’. In second place was Italian rider, another regular here at the showgrounds, Camilla Vittadini with ‘Jabedabedoe’ and in third was the Brazilian rider, Felipe Lopes Morgan with ‘Ermes des Flagues’.

 

The Young Horse classes also started up today with the 7yr olds being won by Kevin González de Zárate with ‘Best In Time DK Z’. The next two places went to American riders;   Molly Hay in second with ‘Fala Brecourt’ and Julie Welles, third with ‘Pumano ABF’.  There were 39 in the class and 17 jumped clear.

 

The 5 and 6yr olds jump in ‘Faults no Time’ classes today;  there were 37 horses entered in the 6yr old class with 25 clears and 47 in the 5yr olds, with 29 jumping clear.

 

These are the first results for this week and tomorrow we continue with another seven classes including the Ranking class set at 1.45m which will be held in the David Broome grass arena.
