Julie Welles is on top form with ‘Greatfull’ winning the ClipMyHorse Trophy

Luca Moneta wins the 1.40m; Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida the 1.35m and Eleanor Hall Mcateer wins the 1.30m

American rider Julie Welles is a regular visitor to Montenmedio, and she is on ‘great’ form, with the aptly named mare owned by Cherry Knoll Farm,  ‘Greatfull’. This lovely athletic grey mare is by ‘Congress 4’, dam sire is ’Peking’ and these two have already had a super start to their week here at the II Andalucía October Tour, already clocking up two second places under their belt, both in 1.45m classes, with one being a Ranking class. Today they won the ClipMyHorse Trophy in fine style and pushed Cian O’Connor off of the top spot with a sparklingly fast round in 65.05s.  Not only that, Julie also took fifth place with ‘Jacquard’.  All in all, a great day at the office.

 

Up to that point Irish Olympic rider, Cian was in the lead withthe very fast mare, ’Taj Mahal’ in 67.66s;  coming in third was the French rider Alix Ragot who was riding yet another mare, ’Diaz de USH’.  In fourth was the Spanish rider Jesús Garmendia, with ‘Callias’.

 

Italian rider Luca Moneta was the winner of the 1.40m class today riding ‘Jolie Coeur D’Avril. The Swiss rider, Alain Jufer was second with ‘Kosimo MM; in third was American rider Cathleen Driscoll with ‘Balkana du Tillard.’ Spanish rider Iván Serrano with ‘Kaluna del Maset’ and the Brazilian Rider, Silvio Teixeira da Silva with ‘Donner’ were fourth and fifth.

 

There was a Portuguese win in the 1.35m from Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida with ‘Epure de B’Neville’, stopping the clock in 62.42s.  This was not Rodrigo’s only success today as he also won the 7yr old class with  ‘Karoina L’.  In second place in the 1.35m was British rider, Joe Fernyhough with ‘Kimba Castello’, and Spanish rider,  Armando Trapote with ‘Higgins’ continued their successful week by taking third place. In fourth was a first timer here at the tour, the American rider, Mavis Spencer who is a member of the American Nations Cup team next week, in this class she was riding ‘Contonio’.

 

There was a British win in the 1.30m from Eleanor Hall Mcateer, her third win so far here with ‘Billy Penny’.  Swiss rider Peter Bleiker Jr was second with ‘Jirsinaa’ and British rider, only recently back in the arenas, Abbie Crippen added another third place  to this weeks results, making the tally so far, two thirds and one second  for the lovely ‘Billy Kvitfjell’.

 

In the 7yr olds coming in second behind Rodrigo,was Irish rider Cora Sharkey with  ‘AHG Whiterock Duggie’ who is owned by Joseph Sharkey. In third was another Portuguese rider, Bernardo Ladeira Pereira with ‘Kings Lady’.

 

British rider, Will Edwards and ‘Geraldo Z’ won the 2phase Sp, 6yr old class. In second  was Alix Ragot with ‘Gracieuse de Laume’ and in third, Italian rider, Christian Fioravanti with ‘Qatar JW Van’t Meulenhof’.

 

The top three in the 5yr olds were all Spanish, Jesús Bamonde Bermúdez de Castro with ‘AGR Tourmalet’; Juan Cortiguera Ruiz with ‘Mycox’ and in third, Alejandro Fernández Sánchez with ‘Colossus HD’.
