Paris Sellon and ‘Anna Jo’, top the podium for the USA in the Fuze Tea Trophy

Portuguese, Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida and ‘Comme Le Coeur’ win the 1.40 Royal Bliss Trophy

American rider, Paris Sellon and her long time partner, the 16 year old mare, ‘Anna Jo’ (‘Acodetto 2’ x ‘For Pleasure’) owned by Willow Grace Farms; had a brilliant start today at the fifth Andalucía October Tour. In the top class of the day, the 1.45 speed class, which was sponsored by Fuze Tea the pair really took the David Broome grass arena by storm and beat off 84 other riders, to take the win in just 61.10 seconds. 36 of the 85 riders went clear with the Austrian rider, Josef Schwarz Jr. and ‘Lor JDV’, coming in second in 61.29s, and another rider from the USA, Emily Dehoff with ‘Manou de Muze’ taking third place. Two Spanish riders took the next placings, Carlos Bosch Cebrián with ‘Jolie Van der Berghoeve Kar’ and Álvaro González de Zárate with ‘Coralin 8’ in a very exciting and competitive class. 

 

Portuguese rider, Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida and ‘Comme Le Coeur’ were the fastest in the 1.40 class today which was divided into two, due to the high number of entrants. The class was in the Milton arena and was sponsored by Royal Bliss. Rodrigo stopped the clock in 54.49s taking first place in one section, whilst the Italian rider, Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK, took first place in the second section. Second places were taken by the French rider, Arthur Le Vot with ‘Divine de B’Neville’ and British rider, Skye Higgin with ‘Fly For You’. Third were the Spanish rider, Hugo Álvarez Amaro with ‘La Plus Belle VDW Z’ and the German rider,  Tom Schewe with ‘Lester’.

 

The 1.35 class was held in the Baloubet du Rouet, arena and another USA rider was on the top form, this time it was Campbell Brown with ‘Luca Van’t Eigenlo’ and close on their heels was Hugo Álvarez who took both second and third, with ‘Ibiza D’Ancha Kar’ and ‘Billie de la Mire Kar’ respectively. Another USA rider, Carlee McCutcheon was fourth with ‘Soufriere’ and Spanish rider, Jesús Garmendia Echevarría was fifth with ‘Hotshot du Rozel’.

 

Switzerland took the top spot in the 1.30, 2PhSp in arena 18. Bryan Balsiger and ‘Empire du Park’ were the winners in a time of 34.07s, exactly one second faster than  Luca Moneta with ‘Carla de Boaz’. Danish rider, Kamilla Ladefoged Rasmussen was third with ‘Loverboy B’ and the German rider, Tom Schewe was fourth with ‘High Offley Milo’;  in fifth was Irish rider,  Dermott Lennon with ‘Lucardo’.

 

In the Young Horse classes, the winner of the 7yr olds 2PhSp, was ‘Idole de Hus’ with Luca Moneta. Second was ‘Leonard T&L Z’ with the Spanish rider, Mickey Seaquist Fernández-Cavada:  ’Elaisa P’ was third with Stephanie Bohe and fourth was ‘Nabadu H’ with Maximilian Lill, both from Germany and finally, in fifth, was ’Iglou de Beugner’ with another Spanish rider, Eduardo Blanco Martín.

 

23 of the 6yr olds and 17 of the 5yr olds went clear in their first classes today.

 

Tomorrow there are nine classes in the CSI3*, including a FEI Longines Ranking class and both the 7 and the 5yr olds will be jumping.
