The Polish rider Andrzej Oplatek was the well deserved winner of the first 1.45 class in the international CSI3* showjumping event here at the III Andalucía October Tour. This event is sponsored by the ‘Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and is co-financed by the European Union.
Andrzej was riding the talented ‘Le Cordial’, ‘Lyjanero’ x ‘Singulord Joter’, and this pair stopped the clock in 65.62s in this 1.45, speed class, held in the main, grass arena, named after the legend, David Broome. Close on their heels was the America rider, a regular here at Montenmedio, Paris Sellon, on her very successful partner ‘Aconzina PS’. This pair stopped the clock in 65.75s. Belgian rider, Zoe Conter took third place on ‘La Una’ in this very fast, competitive class.
A regular winner here at the tour was top of the podium in the 1.40. Irish rider Niamh McEvoy with ‘My Diamant PD Z’ (‘Mylord Carthago’ x ‘Diamant de Semilly’) took the win in this speed class and was just under 3s faster than the Spanish rider, Álvaro Castro Román, who took second with ‘Brigitte’. In third was Norwegian, Ingrid Gjelsten with ‘Nevado de Toluca’ and fourth was British, Skye Higgin with ‘Gotcha’.
There was a Spanish win in the 1,35 for Marta Garat Macías with ‘Julieta del Amor’, who is by ‘Grand Rivage’ x ‘Diamant de Semilly’. Second was Swiss rider Thibaut Keller with ‘Badaboum One’ and third, French rider Guy Jonqueres D’Oriola with ‘Aloma de Grandcamp’.
British, Will Edwards and ‘Magic Chanti’ were the winners of the 1.30 class, second to fourth places were taken by Swiss riders. In second was Georgina Leimer with ‘Stolzer Jung’ and she also took fourth with ‘Hannah von de Soehr’ and sliding neatly into third place was Noah Keller with ‘Acaja’.
In the Young Horse classes Spanish rider, Kevin González de Zárate had a clean sweep in the 7yr olds, taking the top two places. First with ‘Robin Hood S.G.H’ and second with ‘Cinsey EK’. In third place was Portuguese rider, Rafael Dinis Rocha with ‘Magico’.
31 horses from 58 entries jumped clear rounds in the 6yr old class and there were 19 clears in the 5yr old class.
These are the first results here at Montenmedio. Tomorrow there are seven classes including the Longines Ranking 1.45 in the main David Broome arena.
