Richard Howley wins again in the Dunas de Barbate Trophy class!

After winning yesterday in the Ranking class with ‘Fame’ today he won with his relatively new ride ‘Mansini LTD’

The Irish are on a roll, and their winning streak in the top classes continues, here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour. Richard Howley had his second win in a row, today with ‘Mansini LTD’, in the 1.50 speed class, after winning yesterday with ‘Fame’. Richard has not been riding ‘Mansini LTD’, a 14yr old gelding for very long, indeed he took on the ride just this February and has won his last three classes here at the Tour with him, last week winning both the Barceló Conil Playa and the Andalucía Trophy classes. The gelding is by ’Caressini L’ x ‘Marramas’ and is owned by Lennart Lindelöw.

 

In second; in this 1.50 Longines Ranking class, was another top Irish rider, Michael Pender, who was the winner of the demanding Suzuki Grand Prix last Sunday with HHS Calais’.  Today he was riding the very fast ’HHS Fast Forward’ a nine year old gelding by ‘Fortunus’ x ‘Cavalier Royale’. Michael also was the winner of the 7yr old final this week with ’HHS Cyprus’. It is clear that the HHS stud have a superb selection of horses coming through their breeding programmes.

 

In third was the French rider, Edward Levy with ‘Confidence d’Ass’ (‘Diamant de Semilly’ x ‘Berlin’); fourth was German David Will with ‘Zaccorado Blue’ (‘VDL Zirocco Blue’ x ‘Acorado’) and another rider representing Ireland was fifth, Niamh Mcevoy with ‘Aconzina PS’ (‘Action-Breaker’ x ‘Conthargos’). The course was designed by Dutch Louis Konickx and 92 riders took part.

 

The Big Tour, 1.45 was won by Portuguese rider, Duarte Seabra with ‘Fernhill Balou Beau’ who steamed around winning this 2Ph sp which was held in the grass Hickstead arena. Second was Spanish, Jesús Bamonde Bermúdez de Castro with ‘Caporal d’Elle’ and third was French, Aurelien Leroy with ‘Grazina Comme Il Faut’.

 

British, James Smith had another win today in the Big Tour 1.35 with ‘Good Friends’. Second was Belgian rider, Cyril Cools with ‘Coryfee T&L Z’ and third was Dutch Kevin Jochems with ‘Looks Good de Liebri Z’.

 

The Medium Tour 1.45, was won by the Irish Jonathan Smyth with ‘Mulvin Lui’ in just  37.01s. In second place there was a tie between German rider Manuel Feldmann with ‘Mijnheer van de Lentamel’ and French rider, Laura Monier with ‘Kira Loe’, both stopping the clock in the second phase in 40.39s.

 

Spanish rider, José Fumero Hernández with ‘Figuier du Roc’ was the winner of the Medium Tour 1.40, in second was American rider, Julie Welles with ‘Greatfull’ and Duarte Seabra was third with ‘L-Piccola’.

 

There was also a Spanish win in the 1.30 Medium Tour, from Almudena Terrasa Moll with ‘Funny de la Roque Z’, and not content with that she also took third place with ‘Le Douglas van de Peelvenhoeve’. In second was the Czech rider Anna Marie Vitek with ‘Here I Am’.

 

Spanish riders, Leticia Riva Gil with ‘Victoria D’Argent’ won the 1.45 Small Tour and Hugo Álvarez Amaro with ‘Olina van de Looise Heide’ the 1.35. British rider, Graham Gillespie with ‘Jirado van’t Koningshof’ was the winner of the 1.30.

 

The winners in the CSI1* classes; Spanish, Fernando de los Santos with ‘Isba Caps’. British riders, Lola Luchford with ‘Izar LB’ and Vicky Lovegrove with ‘Babel’ won the next two classes down.

 

In the young horse 8yr old class here today at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2023, which is sponsored by the ‘Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte’ and co-financed by the European Union; the Spanish riders dominated the scoreboard. Álvaro González de Zárate with ‘Casa Diva PS’ was our winner; Mariano Martínez Bastida second with ‘Action Force’; Eduardo Álvarez Aznar third with ‘DPS Camelot’; Sergio Álvarez Moya with ‘London’s Bella’ was fourth.

 

Tomorrow we continue with a dozen classes inclusión the Small Grand Prix Ranking class.
