In the Small Grand Prix Ranking class an amazing round from the superb German rider, Daniel Deusser, gave him his second top spot this week with the very fast ‘Kiana van het Herdershof’, who is a 15yr old mare by ‘Toulon’ x ‘Lys de Darmen’ and owned by the Stephex Stables. There were 20 horses in the jump off in this very competitive class and many fell foul to a rail, but none topped this experienced partnership who shaved around two seconds off of the fastest time, stopping the clock in 32.24s.
In second was Italian, Riccardo Pisani with ‘Chacco’s Lawito PS’ (‘Chacco Blue’ x ‘Lawito’), third was Dutch, Michael Greeve with ‘Luka-Cara’ (‘Akarad Hero Z’ x ‘Casco’), fourth was German, Kendra Brinkop with ‘Naf Naf DMC’ (‘Thunder vd Zuuthoeve’ x ‘Clinton’) and in fifth was Spanish, Luis Ortiz Agüera with ‘Hvedholms Cashew’ (‘Volstrups Casch’).
This wasn’t the only exciting class here today at the XXXI Andalucía Sunshine Tour.
A electric atmosphere in the crowd, accompanied the riders who tried their skills at the Six Bars tonight sponsored by Estrella Galicia beers. With four horses clearing the 1.70 round and moving on the second jump off, it really was anyone’s game. French rider Nicolas Sers with ‘Yupi del Pomar’ was first to go in the 1.80 round taking the last pole. Next was the Brazilian, Pedro Grandi Backheuser with ‘Helios Berenger’ who was clear; Christoph Obernauer for Austria with the lovely grey ‘Kleons Can Fly’ followed and took the last pole, and last to go was Cathal Daniels for Ireland with ’Candy’ who stopped at the penultimate fence and retired. This left Pedro Grandi Backheuser with the only clear and the well deserved winner of the class, ‘Helios Bringer’ is an eight year old by ‘Ogrion des Champs’ x ‘Diamant de Semilly. Equal second were Nicolas and Christoph and fourth was Cathal Daniels.
In the Big Tour 1.35, our top two were Moroccan, with Samy Colman and ‘Exquise du Ouistreham’ taking the win and Farid Amanzar with ‘Elvis Van Overis Z’ in second. Third was Belgian, Inge Carton with ‘Eyecatcher BB Z’.
In the Medium Tour 1.50, Belgian, Gilles Thomas was the winner, keeping up his top results here at the Tour after winning the Medium Tour 1.50 on the 8th and the Ayntamiento de Vejer Trophy on the 13th. Today he was riding the nine year old mare, ‘Lavanoche T&L Z’, who is by ‘Lavallino Ter Klomp’ x ‘Bentley Van de Heffinck’,. They stopped the clock in the second phase in 33.44s, comfortably ahead of German rider, Gerrit Nieberg in 35.90s with ‘Kansas City 4’ (‘Kannan’ x ‘Numero Uno’). Third was Belgian, Andres Vereecke with ‘Call Me de Muze Z’ (‘Clarissimo Z’ x ‘Ramiro Z’).
French rider, Alexis Goulet and ‘Fiore Z’ were the winners of the Medium Tour 1.40; second was Italian, Zoe Lia ‘Demont’ and third was the Belgian rider, Dimme D’Haese with ‘Baccarat du Tertre’. There was a Spanish win in the Medium Tour 1.30 from Cayetana González García with a very fast round on ‘Dulisca’; in second was British, Chad Fellows with ‘Incognito Baio’ and third was the Italian, Gregorio Zucchini with ‘Dreamcatcher Z’. In the Medium Tour, 1.20, there was a win for Morocco from Ayla Boudraa with ‘Inca Du Moulin’; second was Yassir Arbain with ‘Copacabana du Nord’ and third was Maltese rider, Victoria Sprogis ‘CSF Foxy Lady’.
In the Small Tour, 1.45, there was an Irish victory from Coen Williams with ‘Philly Fogarty’ (‘Aganix du Seigneur’ x ‘Harlequin du Carel’) followed by British, Ronnie Jones and ‘Kaleche’ (‘F One USA’ x ‘Nassau’) and then the Spanish riders, Elena Appendino with ‘Pompei Van de Fruitkorf’ (‘For Pleasure’ x ‘Clinton’) and Maya de la Joya with ‘Un Lord du Rozel’ (‘Mylord Carthago HN’ x ‘Narcos II’).
The Small Tour 1.35, was won by the Norwegian, Christina Elisabeth Norgaard with ‘Lolita Da quinta Do Mouro’ followed by British, Jessica Hewlett with ‘Invicto’ and Spanish rider, Sofía Moreno Rodríguez-Yrizabal with ‘Brigitte’. The Belgian riders, Estelle Gerard with ‘Jedam’ and Dominique Joassin with ‘Praga VH Weidse Hof’ were top two in the Small Tour 1.30, followed by Swedish rider, Olivia Munkberg with ‘BE Aperle VA’ in third.
There was an Irish whitewash in the Classic Tour. Marta Hughes-Bravo once again won the 1.30 class riding ‘Miss Belgium 111’for the second day in a row; Sorcha Gamble and ‘My Sina VD Kalevallei’ won the 1.20 and Sean Cubitt won the 1.10 with ‘Nord Prince’.
Tomorrow is the last day of the second CSI4* of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, which is kindly sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz. Tomorrow is the Equine América Grand Prix where the best riders of the week will take to the arena in just one of the three Ranking classes to be held amongst twelve classes in all.
