Vejer, 26th of October 2025. The 1.55 Grand Prix, sponsored by the ‘Diputación Provincial de Cádiz’ ('Provincial Council of Cádiz’) closed a week of incredible jumping here at the fifth Andalucía October Tour. From the 60 top riders of the week, 14 went through to the jump off in this Ranking class which was held in the grass, David Broome arena. Last to go in the jump off was top young British rider, Jodie Hall McAteer who has been competing here for many years. Before her round she told us she was very happy with the course and ready to ride to win in this special arena where she has competed so many times. Her jump off round was very fast and neat and an attacking stride into the double combined with accurate neat turns gave her a clear in just 39.05s. ‘Key West’ is a 10yr stallion by ‘Otangelo’ x ‘Phin-Phin’ who is owned by Ruth Dowie, and who she has been competing with at this level since May this year, this being one of their best results so far.
In second was Swiss rider Anthony Bourquard with ‘Fontaineblau Manciais’, in 39.23s and in third was Canadian, Kyle Timm with ‘Glamour du Chanu’, in just under 41s. French rider, Marie Demonte was fourth with ‘Forban de Beliard’ after gong first in the jump off and setting the time to beat, whilst Irish, Susan Fitzpatrick, was fifth with ‘Valisco PS’.
Joel Vallés Rosell was the Spanish winner of the CSI3* 1.40 class; the Chacco-Marketing Trophy which was held in the Milton arena. He was riding the 12 year old mare ‘Dahna de Ponthual’, who is by ‘Goldfever’ x ‘Calypso D’Herbiers’ and owned by KAR Dressage LLC. The class was against the clock and Joel’s time was 57.49s beating off the top Belgian rider, Thomas de Wit with ‘Ecuador DW Z’, whilst Swedish, Alexander Zetterman took a well deserved third place with Parfait
D’Avril’ and also fourth place with ‘Gorklintgards Caspian DWB’. In fifth was Swiss rider, Bryana Balsiger with ‘Checker’. The winners were given their prizes by the CEO of Chacco-Marketing, Shelly Ramírez. The company specialises in publicity and communications in the equestrian world of sport.
In the CSI2*, Spanish rider, Elena Appendino was the winner of the 2PhSp 1.40 with, ’Grupo Prom Hacienda’ (‘Coltaire Z’ x ‘Libertino’). Second was Belgian rider, Mathieu Bourdeaud’Hui with ‘Quint VD Bisschop’; third, Irish rider Max O’Reilly Hyland with ‘BP Limitless’; fourth, Austrian
Max Kuhner with ‘Count on Me 19’ and fifth was Italian, Giampiero Garofalo with ‘Mister Coconut’.
The 1.35 was won by the New Zealand rider, Samantha McIntosh with ‘James S’ whilst Portuguese rider, Martim Portela de Morais with ‘Inco Van Den Bisschop’ was second. Third was Italian, Marco Carli with ‘Oaks Espionage’, fourth was Irish rider, Alice Wachman with ‘Thijssen Sr Z’ and in fifth was Spanish rider, Jesús Garmendia Echevarría with ‘Hotshot du Rozel’.
IThere was an Irish win in the 1.25 from Mischa Lennon with ‘Anthem in My Heart’. French rider, Melissa Garbail was second with ‘Honeymoon des Bee’; third was Mexican, Federica Fernández with ‘Paddington du Ventel Z’; Swedish rider, Filippa Stööp was fourth with ‘Penhills Ginger Biscuit’ and in fifth was Spanish rider, Oliver Lange Fraile with ‘Mega Coupe’.
The 1.15 went to Portuguese rider, Sandra Gaspar Carreira with ‘Hifi’; British, Cassandra Copa was second with ‘Hamlets Fire’; Lebanese rider, Damien Haddad
took the next two places, with ‘Harley de Hus’ and ‘Iena Wal’ and in fifth was the Hungarian, Nora Jazmín Nagy with ‘Orite 2’.
This concludes an intense week of competition, which included an incredible Nations Cup with 18 teams participating, which was ultimately won by the young and very exciting, Irish team. Competition starts up again here at Montenmedio on Thursday, October 30th, with the first classes of the CSI4*. This is the last week of competition here at this 5th edition of the Andalucía October Tour. The event is sponsored by the Regional Government of Andalucía, through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior, and the Provincial Council of Cádiz and it began back on September 25th. The Young Horse classes will also begin on Thursday and the highlight of the whole Tour, the Andalucía Grand Prix, will provide the grand finale on Sunday, November 2nd, in an event that has seen more than 2,800 horses and 800 riders taking to the arenas here at Montenmedio.
