The only rider clear in under 60s in today’s big class, the 1.50 Hipotels Trophy was William Fletcher who rides for Great Britain. Today he pilotedvthe talented 12 year old mare, ‘Iwalinde’,who is by ‘VDL Zirocco Blue’ x ‘Corland’ and this was their first class together here at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2025: which is sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and by the Diputación provincial de Cádiz.
In second place was the Belgian rider, who is no stranger to the podium here at Montenmedio, Jérôme Guery with the 13yr old mare,‘Killer Queen’ (‘Diablo Blanco’ x ‘Toulon’). The top Spanish rider, was Álex Codina Leria with ‘Jarno’, who is a 16yr old gelding by ‘Non Stop’ x ‘Sheyenne de Baugy’ in third. Fourth was Irish rider, Jessica Burke with ‘Express Trend’ (‘Future Trend’ x ‘Condios’) and fifth was British, Phillip Miller with ‘Don Royale’ (‘Don VHP Z’ x ‘Orville’).
There was also a British win in the Medium Tour 1.45, with a really fast round from James Wilson and ‘Quality Time of Picobello Z’ (‘Querlybet Hero’) their second big success here at the Tour after winning the Catunambú Trophy last week. Álex Codina took second in this class, this time riding ‘My Passion VD Donkhoeve’ (‘For Passion D’Ive Z’ x ‘Vigo D’Arsouilles STX’). Hungarian, Laszlo Toth was third with ‘Toll Central’ (‘Cornet Obolensky’ x ‘Accarat’); Danish rider, Jennifer Pedersen was fourth with ‘Catdaddy’ (‘Cascadello’ x ‘Quidam De Revel’) and British rider, Laura Mantel was fifth with ‘Calcourt Clear Gold’.
There were two sections to the 1.40, which had 133 competitors. The two winners were, British, Iwan Carpenter with ‘Merllyn’s Chacco B’ (‘Chacco Blue’ x ‘Contendro I’) and Italian, Luca Moneta with ‘El Capone RK’ (‘Cardento 933’ x ‘Julio Mariner’). Second were Carola Wegener for Germany, with ‘Calisi’ (‘Conthargos’ x ‘Chacco Blue’) and Brazilian, Pedro Junqueira Muylaert with ‘Dakar’ (‘Douglas’ x ‘Emilion’); third places went to Swedish, Sofía Westborg with ‘Hello HX’ (‘Afellay’ x ‘N-Aldato’) and Spanish, Julio Arias Cueva with ‘Conisha Des Forets’ (‘Mozart des Hayettes’ x ‘Dollar de la Pierre’).
There were also two sections in the Big Tour 1.35 with two Swedish riders, dominating this class; Sara Molvidson-Hellström with ‘Caroline’ (‘Contendro I’ x ‘Balou du Rouet’) and Jacob Hellström with ‘Sweet Sandra’ (‘Sandro Boy’ x ‘Careful 28’). In second were Dutch rider, Sanne Thijssen with ‘Vosje’ and once again Julio Arias Cuevas was on the podium, this time with ’Dolce Vita Des Ouches’: third were Austrian rider, Alessandra Reich with ‘Copyright Cicero Z’ and the Belgian rider, Laurens Houben with ‘Metropolitan’.
In the Medium Tour 1.30, there was a British win from Emily Ward and ‘Millfield Lottery’; Jacob Hellström was back on the podium with ‘Super Socks’; British rider Joe Fernyhough with was third with ‘Calcourt Supersonic’; Laszlo Toth had another placing, this time with ‘Vanda’ in fourth and in fifth was British rider, Megan James with ‘C-Mikado Wapiti MP Z’.
The Young Horse class winners today were ‘Baltica’ with the German rider Carola Wegener and ‘Emeralds F1’ with Spanish, Jesús Torres García in the seven year olds; ‘Cean’ with Dutch rider, Daan Adams and ‘SLH Fantastico’ with British Ronnie Jones in the six year olds and finally ‘Take on Me 3’ with Swedish rider, Lina Renstrom and ‘Quiron del Amor’ with Spanish local rider, Alejandro Fernández Sánchez in the five year olds.
Tomorrow we continue with thirteen classes in the CSI4*, including a FEI Longines Ranking class and the last class for the Young Horses of eight years old this week.
